She's a smart kitty, but more than that she is not afraid of much. It's almost a game now when she gets on the kitchen table. And funny enough she really doesn’t care about the kitchen unless we are in it. She really prefers hanging around us. It's rather entertaining. However, I've learned not to mess with the plants or anything else she shouldn't be playing with when she's around. If she sees me, she takes it as permission to do the same, or as Brentford calls it, “helping.”

Recently, I learned about Cheddar Man, the oldest human remains ever found in England. And the science shows he wasn't white. I read about Cheddar Man in How To Argue With A Racist by geneticist Adam Rutherford. It describes all the simple assumptions people make about genetics when it's really much, MUCH more complicated than we imagine. He explains how skin, eye, and hair color are just proteins that have no connection with anything else about our bodies. He says they know about genes and DNA but how they work is not exactly straightforward. For example, they don't know exactly how red hair works. And, because we only get half of each of our parents’ DNA, which means the other half is gone forever, we can really only go back about 11 generations before we are related to everyone and no one. It also means we are all probably related to someone of significance in history. For example, anyone who has relatives in England going back a few generations is almost definitely related to Edward III. Also, he explains those companies claiming to show you your ethnic heritage if you pay and submit a DNA sample are only able to compare the results to all the other people who have also paid and submitted their DNA sample to that company. It's a much more accurate test of who else you are related to in their database than any kind of ethnic history map. This book is a quick read at only 240 pages.
“Ecocide" or Mass Environmental Destruction is closer to becoming an international crime punishable by international law, similar to genocide and war crimes. I'm grateful there are consequences for harming the environment in the works.
It is hot as blazes out here. If needed, take this advice on how to keep cool without AC ( about half of us in the PNW don't have it and it would probably blow the power grid if we did).
Olympic Gold Medalist Katie Ledecky swimming with a glass of chocolate milk on her head to demonstrate the most efficient swimming technique. No splashing..
Stay cool. 🥶 😎
I'm stuck on that dog just sitting there like that, until the cat finally swats it. Like it knows it's coming, and is just waiting to be able to turn on the cat! haha
Cheddar man wasn't white....what does that even mean? what does it mean to be "white" and when did it start if cheddar man does not fit the description? Arguing about Cheddar Man is jsut as moronic as everything else racists have. I mean, the problem with arguing with racists is the same as arguing with other shitheads like creationists - they are not actually interested in anything real, and literally every piece of "data" they have depends on ignorance of some nuance of science (e.g., a misunderstanding of DNA data and interpretation), fake facts (e.g., a global flood created the earth, which there is absolutely zero evidence for), or argumentative fallacy. I could write a book called how to argue with racists in 1 sentence from Epictetus: It is impossible for a man to learn what he thinks he already knows.
