Here is a little painting I did recently using watercolors and something called Artgraf Tailor Shapes. They are large squares of dry pigment that are also water soluble (in the shape of a tailor's marking square). I drew the water lines with it and a little on the tree leaves at the top. Still need to practice but I like how it turned out.
I also made an updated version of my Altoids Tin Paint Box - this time with hot-glued bottle caps! So easy to pick up and go and the colors stay put much better.
I have been spending so much more time on painting and drawing, and I have been letting the Brentford cartoon lapse a bit. Instead of saying goodbye to Brentford I want to send artwork in my newsletters for a little while so I can still keep in touch regularly. This way I can also post another Brentford cartoon sometime when the muse returns. He's a fickle muse sometime, but I'm certain he's not too far away.
I think the speed at which things are opening up in the world is also ramping up how busy I feel. I'm probably going to miss the pandemic slow-down and I wonder if humans will demand we make a slow-down a regular part of our lives someday. Sure seems like we and the earth would appreciate it (as long as it was free and didn't cause people to lose jobs or housing). Scientists appreciated the slow down for sure. In this Vox article it shows how much information scientists scrambled to capture while we were in lockdown and they learned a few surprising things. And discovered and re-discovered some new animals! This story about the thought-to-be-extinct Cupola gecko was quite nice.

Explore.org Kitten Rescue live cam. This is my favorite live cam. It makes me calmer whenever I watch it. Sleeping kittens, playing kittens - it’s lovely. There are also many, many other animals and locations to enjoy.
Meditation and humor have been my life boats these past months.
