This week I got to spend a few days with friends from college at a cabin on a very quiet corner of Lake Holcombe in Wisconsin. Still water, birds, frogs, cool grass, moderate temperatures, delicious healthy food, good conversation, kayaks and paddles and a no wake zone. Quiet contemplation following every conversation and the image and sound of a crane flying pulled me into reflection. I made a few photos with my mind's eye of the lillies on the water, bubbles and bugs floating on the water, the intense green of the grass and plants, and the light turning the poplar and birch leaves alternately gold and green with the breeze like shimmery sequins on a dancer's dress. I laid on a blanket on the shady grass and looked up for the first time in years.

I love looking up at trees! We haven't camped in a while, so I've not had a chance to do that "in the wild" for some time. Sigh.
And animal crossing bridges are wonderful! Every time we drive to Yakima I like to think there are all manner of creatures on or near the bridge of I-90. The fences that stretch along the highway for quite a distance to direct the animals to the bridge are equally important.
Cheers!
